About the Vanguardians

Seven Years on the Frontier

From 12 friends in a Discord to a global creative guild.

The Vanguardians began as a gaming clan with a strange rule: no toxicity, only mentorship. We won tournaments, but we stayed for something bigger — protecting the culture of play itself.

Today we are a hybrid collective: part esports house, part sci-fi universe, part creator fund and part digital literacy movement. We believe fandom can be a force for good, that lore can teach ethics, and that every server can be a sanctuary.

The Saga so far

2019 — The First Lantern

12 players vow to never flame a newbie again. The Vanguard Oath is written on a pizza box.

2021 — Neon Bastion Falls (and Rises)

Our Minecraft-meets-lore server wipes. Community rebuilds it in 72 hours — now our capital myth.

2023 — Hollow Signal

ARG with 40k players, hidden radios, moral choices. Ends with players voting to save the villain.

2025 — Vanguard Fund

First $120k distributed to 34 indie creators. No strings, just “make something weird and kind.”

2026 — You Are Here

Season 07 live. New citadel, new codex, same oath. Your chapter starts at join.

Both. We started as a gaming community and grew a collaborative sci-fi universe called Neon Bastion. You can just play tournaments, just write lore, or do both.

No. 60% of guardians are casual or complete beginners. We run newcomer-only brackets, coaching circles and cozy-game nights.

Yes. Core membership, tournaments, courses and lore jams are free. Optional supporter tier funds grants and servers — never pay-to-win.

How do I get my lore / art featured? +

Submit to Codex Jam or Indie Spotlight. Community votes, council reviews for canon fit, and we always credit + pay for published work.

Do you do offline events? +

Yes — Park Raids, library LANs, zine fairs and watch parties in 21 cities. All IRL missions are sober-friendly, family-friendly and free.
